There will be additional visitation in the Gathering Space at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Rasmussen died peacefully in her home in Bettendorf on Friday, June 23, 2006.
Sibylla Mary Pohlmann was born June 16, 1915, in Davenport, a daughter of Bernard H. and Lillian A. (Snyder) Pohlmann. She was united in marriage to James S. Rasmussen on August 22, 1936, in Davenport at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on August 6, 1997.
Sibylla was mainly a housewife and homemaker to her husband and family. She had also been employed part-time at the former Petersen Harned Von Maur as well as assisting as a cashier at Tim's Car Wash, Davenport.
Her memberships include the church and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed playing bridge and had belonged to many card clubs, and had been involved in local women's and mixed bowling leagues. She had been an active volunteer for the church and the school throughout the years.
Sibylla's greatest pleasure came from being with her family. She was proud of her children and grandchildren and especially cherished her great-grandchildren. She always had a cookie or a treat for the little ones.
Memorials can be made to the church, the Knights of Columbus or Beacon of Hope Hospice.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Hartung, Davenport; a son and daughter-in-law, George "Tim" and Sue Rasmussen, Bettendorf; a son-in-law, Erwin Voelkner, Madison, Wis.; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Thompson, Davenport, and Lillian Mucha, Bettendorf; and sisters-in-law, Patricia Hartkop, Bettendorf, and Betty Pohlmann, Albuquerque, N.M.
In addition to her parents and husband, a daughter, Nancy Voelkner, 1996, grandsons, Timothy and Brian Rasmussen, a son-in-law, George Hartung, January 2006, and a brother, Bernard, also preceded her in death. May they rest in peace.
