Siegfried "Fred" Hausladen

Edgewood - Siegfried "Fred" Hausladen, M.D., Ph.D., of Edgewood, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Village Care Center in Erlanger at the age of 74. Fred was born on May 7, 1944 in Vienna, Austria to the late Mathias Hausladen and Johanna Engelmann Hausladen. He graduated from Elder High School in the class of 1962 and bleeds purple. He graduated from Xavier University in 1966 with a B.S. in physics. He obtained his Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics from Ohio University in 1973. He went to the Pitzer School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. He did his residency in E.N.T. and head and neck surgery at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He returned to the area in 1981 to practice. After retiring from medicine he taught physics at the University of Cincinnati. He was very involved in many civic and professional clubs and associations. Fred was the President of the Northern Kentucky Medical Society, a Kentucky Colonel, a board member of Summit Hills Country Club, a board member of Easter Seals for 18 years, a member of Sigma Pi Sigma physics honor society, and a physician/founding partner of Head and Neck Surgery Associates. Fred enjoyed reading, playing cards, gardening and was a regular golfer. He loved his family and all the fun they had in Siesta Key, Florida and on all other family vacations over the years.

Fred leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Barbara Hausladen, whom he proudly knew for 67 years; five children, Derek Hausladen, M.D. and his wife, Jennifer Hausladen, M.D. of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, Dustin Hausladen and his wife, Lori of Clayton, Missouri, Kristin Baker and her husband, James Baker, M.D. of Edgewood, Kentucky, David Hausladen and his wife, Rachel of Baltimore, Maryland, and Douglas Hausladen of New Haven, Connecticut; twelve grandchildren, Johanna, Lilly, Sophie, Haley, Giselle, Jack, Ian, Anna, Simone, Maddy, Gavin, and Alex; Fred also leaves behind a host of close relatives and friends in the Cincinnati area and beyond. In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Hausladen.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 2409 Dixie Highway, Ft. Mitchell, KY. 41017. A gathering for family and friends will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church from 9:00AM until the time of service on Saturday.
