Sonie Kennedy Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Nov. 18, 2017.
Sonie Rae Kennedy (nee Coffin) February 22, 1947 - November 10, 2017. Sonie, born in Mangonui, New Zealand, came to Canada in 1971. She will be greatly missed by her husband Gordon, daughters Tanya and Rachelle, son Shane and wife Jenny, her three granddaughters and other family members in both Canada and NZ. Sonie was a kind, gentle and loving spirit who was very involved with her community. She was active with the Girl Guides for over 25 yrs, paddled with the Dogwood Masters Dragonboat team for 15 yrs, and hiked with the Dogwood hiking club. As an avid traveler and adventurist, she climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, cycled over 8000 kms across Canada and toured the Serengeti, around Australia, NZ, Europe, the US and Mexico. She will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society (www.alsbc.ca) would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 1636 Regan Ave, Coquitlam on Nov 24th at 1pm.
