Sophia T. Porosky

Sophia T. Porosky, a resident of Peckville, died Sunday at Regional Hospital of Scranton, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Stanley Porosky, who died March 17, 1985.

Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Sophia Radzicki Krushinsky. She attended and was a graduate of Blakely High School. Sophie was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Peckville and a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary Shopa-Davey Post 6082 VFW, Peckville. After retirement at Garlet Industries, she spent her time enjoying life and dancing to Big Band and Polka music with her companion, the late Pat Pratico.

She lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved when her great-grandchildren would gather at her home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed her family and all those who knew her.

Surviving are a son, Robert Porosky and wife, Rosemarie, Peckville; a daughter, Lori Parinisi and husband, David, Archbald; six grandchildren, Robert Murray, Ryan Murray; Leann Cwikla and husband, Shaun; Tamara Galavitz and husband, Carl; Suzanne Barchak and husband, William; and Jaclyn Cherney and husband, Daniel; six great-grandchildren, Carl Galavitz, Sebastian Barchak, Genevieve Barchak, Kaylee Murray Cameron Cwikla and Sophia Cwikla; nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Diane Ciaglia for her care and compassion to Sophie, over the years.

Preceding her in death were brothers, John, Frank and Edmund Krushinsky; and a sister, Elizabeth Havrilchuck.

The funeral will be Friday from the Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, 420 Church St., Archbald, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, 417 Main St., Eynon. Monsignor Patrick J. Pratico will be celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Blakely.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
