Sutherby, Spencer Dean Flushing Age 81, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek (A live stream of the service will be available on Spencer's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Burial in St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Fenton, 503 Leroy St., Fenton, MI 48430, the Old Country Polka Time c/o Jana Vitu, 4691 Waugh Road, Owosso, MI 48867 or the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, 2300 Lapeer Rd., Flint, MI 48503. Spencer was born November 19, 1940 in Fenton, the son of Mary (O'Berry) Sutherby. He was a 1959 graduate of Fenton High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force 1960-1963. He was employed by General Motors Service Parts in Swartz Creek until his retirement in 1992. He met his soul mate and love, Sharon at SPO. They were married December 24, 1976 in Fenton. Spencer loved to go on casino trips, golf and go out to eat. He belonged to the Swartz Creek Friendship Club, Swartz Creek American Legion Post #294. He served on the Gaines Township Board of Appeals and Board of Review. He was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church of Fenton, where he was a former elder, banker and usher for many years. Spencer is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Timothy; daughters, Robynn (Rick) Reid and Wendy (Kevin) Foltz; Grandchildren, Alexis and Amanda Sutherby, Riley and Madelyn Reid and Owen, Benjamin and Ella Foltz; siblings, Linda Smith and Tim (Sandy) Sutherby; brother-in-law, Bert Belding; sister-in-law, Joanne Sutherby; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Sutherby was preceded in death by mother, Mary Sutherby; brother, Gary Sutherby; sister, Brenda Belding; grandmother, Emily O'Berry; brother-in-law, Duane Smith.
