Stanislaus Xavier Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 15, 2025.
It is with deep heartache that we share the passing of Stanislaus Francis Xavier, on February 11, 2025, at the age of 81. Surrounded by his family at home, on the beautiful feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes, we take comfort that Stan was guided to eternal rest.
Stan was an adventurous world traveller to over 50 countries, lover of science, devoted Dad, and man of faith.
Born in Singapore, Stan was the youngest of 9 children. He spent his youth biking all around Singapore, enjoying food at hawker stalls, and playing chess. He excelled in academics and earned a degree in Biochemistry at the University of Singapore. After completing Singapore Army National Service, he went on to work at Castrol Oil, analyzing the oil aboard marine ships. Wishing to see more of the world, Stan moved to Canada as an independent immigrant in 1971. He became a cornerstone at the former York Finch Hospital, giving 25 years of service and becoming the Laboratory Manager. He spoke very fondly of his years in the lab.
Stan married Marilyn in 1982, setting up strong roots and settling into their family home in Concord, Ontario in 1987, where he would live for 38 years. He was a founding parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. An active member in his spiritual family, Stan served as Eucharistic minister and met with his close-knit counting crew weekly for decades. He was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, making home visits to those in need and organizing countless food drives in the community.
Stan is remembered most for his genuine kindness, generous heart, analytical problem-solving skills, love of conversation & debate, and enduring curiosity about the world - its cultures, people, art, and food - which he maintained his whole life. Stan approached fatherhood with utmost care, endlessly devoting himself to supporting and connecting with his children; he was their best friend.
Stan's memory is cherished by his wife Marilyn (née Kagoo), children Melanie, David, and Stephanie (Neelabh), and dog Finnegan. Survived by his much adored sister Rita (Sister Mary Luke of Missionaries of Charity) and brothers, Mervin (Prema) and Aloysius (Betty).
Preceded in death by his father Thomas (1949), beloved mother Louisa (2006), siblings Raymond (2018), Marie (1947), Alfons (2000), Allan (1937), and Stephen (2004).
