STANLEY F. "DZIA" AUGUSTYN, SR. WHITING, IN Stanley F. Augustyn, Sr., 80 of Whiting passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Patricia (nee Moriarity); loving father of three sons and three daughters: Stanley (Valerie) Augustyn, Jr. of Whiting, Cindy Steiger of Hammond, George (Linda) Augustyn of Highland, Susan (Douglas) Cornelius of Hammond, Nancy Augustyn of Knox, IN and James (Melody) Augustyn of Whiting; cherished Dzia of 14:, Ryan Shane, Christine Krilich, Ralph Steiger, Mark and Patrick Augustyn, Elizabeth, Jason, Kevin and Brian Cornelius, Monica (David) Combs, Donald Alcala (U.S. Navy), James, Matthew and Ryan Augustyn; adoring Great Dzia of Lauren and Libby; dearest brother of Bernice (late Edward) Wisinski and the late Josephine Forystek, Lillian Macek, Lucille Wilczynski, Raymond Augustyn, and Edwin Augustyn; dear brother-in-law of Lillie Augustyn; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S., officiating. Cremation to follow. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Members of the parish will offer prayers at the funeral home on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Stanley Augustyn was born on August 13, 1933 in East Chicago, Indiana to Anthony and Tillie (Czarnecki) Augustyn and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting where he was the Cub Scout Troop Leader of Pack 204 during the 1960’s. Stanley loved to hunt, fish, hike and camp, He loved the camp fires, mountains, wildlife, bears and the American Bald Eagle. Family vacations camping and traveling knew no boundaries, coast to coast, all points in between to all 50 states. Stanley was a retired bricklayer with 43 years of service at Youngstown/ LTV Steel, East Chicago and was a member of the Bricklayers Local #4, Indiana/Kentucky for 61 years. He continued his friendships with his fellow bricklayers who he always considered part of his family. What he loved most of all was MAMA (his wife, Patricia) and watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sporting events; football, basketball, wrestling, volleyball, swimming, baseball, softball and soccer. Stanley was the happiest man you’d ever want to meet. He loved his family with his whole heart and was the best husband, dad and grandpa ever.
