Stanley Sheppard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2024.
Stanley Marvin Sheppard, 80, of Port Chester NY, died peacefully on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Stan was born April 22, 1943, in Brooklyn, NY, the first child of Jack and Sylvia Sheppard. Stan grew up in East Flatbush, graduated from George W. Wingate High School in Prospect Lefferts Gardens and then received his bachelor's degree from City College.

After graduating college, Stan was a teacher and then Dean of Discipline at Boys High School in Brooklyn. While there, he continued his education and received his Master of Business Administration from Baruch College.

His career spanned private companies, self-employment, and the non-profit sector, including The Seagram Company, his own business Paladin II Limited, Hadassah and New York University.

Stan had many interests and hobbies, most notably photography. You would often find him taking street photographs and pictures of his family at their various activities. Over the last decade, Stan was a passionate and active volunteer in his community of Port Chester, fighting for immigrant rights with Port Chester Immigrant Defense (PCID) and serving his synagogue, Congregation KTI.

But more than anything else, Stan loved his family. He adored his wife Ruth, and they were married for 47 years.

Stan is survived by his wife Ruth Sheppard. He is also survived by his two children and their spouses: Greg and Marybeth Sheppard and Rachel Sheppard Mileo and Nick Mileo; his sister Bonnie Reed and his five grandchildren whom he adored: Andy, Suzie, Grace, Julia, and Lindsey.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30th at Congregation KTI, 575 King St, Port Chester, NY 10573, at 10am.

In leu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Congregation KTI or to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
