Stanley Tall

TALL _ Stanley Alfred July 2, 1920 - November 28, 2008 Stanley Alfred Tall, beloved husband of Velma Tall of Calgary, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Stan passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on November 28, 2008. Stan was born in Swan River, Manitoba and lived in Bowsman, Manitoba area until 1939 when he enlisted with the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment. After serving in Algiers, Italy and Holland, he returned to Canada in 1945. He married Velma Graham on November 28, 1946, raising their family in the Bowsman area. Stan was very active in the community serving on many community groups, including town council and as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Stan and Velma moved to Thompson, Manitoba in 1969 where Stan worked at the municipal airport. In 1975 Stan relocated to Calgary, Alberta where he worked for Sungold Cabinets until his retirement in 1985. Stan was very active in his children's lives from an early age to later in life when many wonderful vacations were taken with family members. In his retirement years Stan continued to enjoy his grandchildren's activities and events. Stan was an avid reader, enjoyed curling and bowling and spent many hours enjoying the sun in his backyard. Besides his loving wife Velma, Stan is remembered by his two sons and daughters-in-law and three daughters and son-in-law, Diane Cookshaw of Calgary, Maureen (Milton) Brandson of Airdrie, Valerie Hobson of Calgary, Archie (Denise) Tall of Langley, British Columbia, and Craig (Jan) Tall of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Stan is also remembered by his twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Stan's Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, December 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com .
