Stanley Woychowski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 4, 2025.
Stanley Frederick Woychowski, Jr., 87, of Tampa, FL, passed away with family by his side on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Northside Hospital. A native of New York, Stan was born on March 5, 1938, to Stanley Woychowski and Dorothy Foster.

Stan proudly served in the United States Army for eight years before receiving his honorable discharge.

In June 1967, Stan married the love of his life, MaryAnn DiMaio. The following year, they moved to Tampa to begin their life together and welcomed their son Rick, whom they loved dearly.

After settling in Tampa, Stan worked as a truck driver for many years. Known for his resourcefulness, he was a skilled handyman who spent much of his life helping others with home repairs, projects, and odd jobs. Always ready to lend a hand, he never turned down a neighbor or friend in need. Stan never met a stranger. He loved to strike up conversations with anyone he encountered and had a gift for keeping people laughing with his endless supply of jokes.

Stan loved traveling with MaryAnn and Rick, often taking road trips that carried them across the United States and Canada. Over the years, he proudly visited all 50 states, always eager to explore new places and share those adventures with his family. He also had a lifelong passion for photography, collecting both vintage and modern film cameras. With an eye for beauty, he especially enjoyed capturing architecture, scenic landscapes, and the details of everyday life. A student of history and a natural teacher, he delighted in explaining how things worked and sharing stories from the past.

His greatest joy, however, was being involved in the lives of his grandchildren. He volunteered at their school, guided them through building projects, and encouraged their individual hobbies and interests. Whether it was a simple outing or a spontaneous adventure, he made every moment a lesson and a memory.

Stan also had a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and was known for his kind and easygoing nature. He enjoyed being outdoors, staying active, and finding joy in simple acts of kindness. He was incredibly proud to be a father and grandfather, and his family was the greatest source of joy in his life. His grandchildren will always remember his love of the holidays, especially Christmas. Obsessed with all things festive, he created a beautiful Christmas village and kept trees and lights glowing year-round as a cheerful reminder of the season he loved most.

Stan is survived by his son, Rick, and daughter-in-law, Stephanie; his grandchildren, Taylor, Shelby, Kelsey, Ricky, and Luke Woychowski; his brother-in-law, Joe DiMaio, and wife, Valerie; his niece, Heather Christie; and nephews, Robert, Garrett, and Dean Leonardi.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, MaryAnn; his sister, Dottie Leonardi; and his brother-in-law, Bobby Leonardi.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 15520 North Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33613. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., prior to the service.

Following the Mass, a Celebration of Life will be held at The Merrymaker's Club of Tampa, 124 Danube Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.

Dad,

Thank you for all the memories, and good times as a kid and as an adult. Thank you for molding me into the man, leader and person I am today. I also am very thankful my family was able to experience your love and guidance as well. You were always there for us with a kind smile, good laugh, and great words of wisdom to make any issue manageable. We will miss your advice, stories, jokes, and infectious laughter. I hope I did right by you and Mom, and made you both proud. You will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. May God take you into his loving arms, and protect your soul for eternity.

Love,
Rick

My uncle and my mom grew up together in Manhattan very rough times they went through. They always had each other`s back and took care of each other. Now they are in heaven together taking care of each other again I´m sure. My love goes out to all the people we loved and lost,Will all be together one day soon. Love, Rob.

Stan was a fine and generous man. I loved hearing his stories when I'd see him during visits to Ric's mom and house. My sincerest wishes that the good memories continue to bring you comfort. My condolences to you all.

I don't even know where to begin. Living just a few doors down from Stan, I spent my childhood and and young adult life around Stan (and Rick). He was by all accounts a second dad. Always liked his laughter, humor and that "Stan"wisdom only found by living life. He could talk with anyone.

Summers were usually spent with Stan, Rick and my brother helping him with odd jobs. He knew how to make a buck. He had us picking up aluminum cans and taking them to the recycling facility to get paid. Little did we know at the time but he was teaching us a valuable lesson about being creative and hard work.

The stories, his generosity and adventures are countless and I could go on forever.

Stan always did things his way and was such a unique individual. He will be dearly missed but the memories, they will always be there!
