To all the Chavez family: We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We didn't know Stephen personally, but feel as though we did. Your whole family has been so dear to us and has inspired us all with your faith and love. You can be assured of our prayers for Stephen and your whole family. I know Our Lord is holding you all very closely in your grief. What a happy reunion it will be in heaven! May God bless you always. All our love, the Lademan family

To the extended Chavez Family:
What a sad and shocking bit of news to hear of your loss of Stephen from Carol Shirley, a La Mirada neighbor. I remember him as David's younger brother, a cute little guy, and knew enough of the family to realize what a good citizen and fine Catholic man he must have been. All of you are in my prayers for peace and comfort from the Lord and your friends. Margaret and children, special blessings for you who made Stephen's daily life happy and worthwhile.
With love and prayers, Mrs. Pat Garcia, David's 7th grade teacher at Beatitudes School

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I had Professor Chavez in Fall 2010. I remember him fondly. I always struggled as a writer, but he was always willing to go the extra mile to assist me. I spent a lot of time going to his office hours where I learned how to be a better overall student. I'll never forget the kindness he showed me one day when I was clearly stressed out going into my contracts final. He helped me calm down and go into my final feeling confident. He was an asset to the legal community and he will be missed.

My condolences to Prof. Chavez's family. Although I did not have class with him, this month, I had the privilege of meeting with Prof Chavez to discuss his externship program. He was an exceptional person, kind, dedicated and with an excellent reputation as a law professor. May "flights of angels lead you on your way" Professor Chavez; and may peace be with the Chavez Family.

Steve, I'm always with you. When the brothers gather, it will not be the same. Somehow, though, I feel our communication is even deeper.
