My husband, Enrique and I lived just around the corner from Steve and Linda and wished we had spent more time with them. We did have a little gathering in our home for a some piano music from Enrique, funny stories and just good visiting. We learned Steve loved music and dogs..that was good enough for us. Meadow Lane won't be the same without you but we'll see you again. We were happy to have spent even a little time with you. Rest peacefully sir.

October 17th, 1992 my mom married a man named Steve Duke. Steve had three sons Brian, Kyle, and Adam. On that day, we became a blended family of seven. We didn’t know how a blended family worked, who really does, but we all figured it out.
I’ll never forget a brief conversation Steve and I had early in their marriage. He told me “When it comes to discipline, I’m not your dad and I won’t act like it. I will however, support your mom in any disciple decision she makes.” Looking back, those were wise words that he never veered away from.
I remember the hundreds of boring drives we made while listening to Dave Ramsey on the radio. It seemed like it was Dave this and Dave said that, ALL THE TIME! As a result, years later, Danielle and I would meet Dave in the lobby of his studio before we went on the radio to do our scream, thanks to Steve.
I learned more about becoming a man from Steve’s actions than his words. Steve would listen to everyone’s problems and give sensible advice. Sometimes whether we wanted it or not. He NEVER made my sister or myself, feel like we were just his “step children”. He would never let us leave without saying I love you. He loved his grandsons and granddaughters so much and they loved their PaDuke. He loved his Tennessee Volunteers and he finally got to see them have a winning season and beat Alabama. Just like most veterans, he loved his country.
Most importantly, he loved my mom. He loved my mom and we could all see it. She loved him and it was undeniable.
We hate that Steve is no longer here, but we have comfort in knowing who he placed his faith in. Regardless, we miss him deeply.

I am sad to learn of Steve's passing. He wasn't able to attend our last class reunion due to his illness. I always looked forward to this event; for one reason I would usually see Steve there. He and I played football together and I always enjoyed his pleasant disposition.

Our great neighbor will be missed very much in so many ways. He was always there to chat with you, and he was our neighbor hood watch man. We already miss looking out and seeing him sitting on porch or garage, or giving him a toot as we drove by. We will meet up soon.
