Stephen J. Hlavaty former longtime resident of Palatine The funeral service for Stephen J. Hlavaty, 90, of Cary, will be gin with prayers at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine, and proceed to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 465 N. Benton St., Palatine, for Mass at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. Born Aug. 18, 1915, in Chicago, he passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, in Arlington Heights. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hlavaty had been employed by Symons Corporation of Des Plaines in quality control. He was A World War II Army Air Corps veteran and a former member of the Palatine American Legion Post #690. He was also a member of the St. Theresa Leisure Club, the Resurrection Choir and the Adult Choir, and the Palatine Senior Center. Survivors include his daughters, Ruth E. Ricker and Frieda A. Melvin; sister, Rosemary Antes of Chicago; seven grandchildren; one grea-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda A. Hlavaty; son, Stephen Jr; brothers, John (vera) Hlavaty and Joseph Hlavaty; and his sister, Anna Bernath. Masses would be appreciated. For information, 847-358-7411.
