Ashby, as the the shop guys called him in school was the best teacher I had. He went above and beyond as an educator. My first airplane ride was also with him. He will be greatly missed. Thoughts to Sharon, Stephanie, and Shawn and their families.

So sorry to hear of Steve's death. I never had him for a teacher, but my children, Ryan and Lydia Hufford did. Ryan thought Mr. Ashby was the best! Sharon, you and your children will be in our prayers.

I had the pleasure to know Steve Ashby since my brother Henry married his daughter Stephanie 10 years ago. My heart goes out to Sharon his wife, and all who were near and dear to him. He lived his life with incredible character and zest, with great love for his family, kids and grandkids. My wife Ana and I were blessed to have Steve and his entire family in our home for Thanksgiving in 2010. What a treat. He was admirable from so many perspectives, and indeed a genuine American patriot. May God rest his soul, and remind us with smiles and warmth for the goodness of his life.

For several years, Steve and I were the only boys in our class at Gilboa.

Although he was limited by his illness, he was able to join his Remington H.S. 50th reunion. He was a softspoken, thoughtful, and inspirational person.

Our family met Steve years ago when his daughter married my brother. He was a soft-spoken, kind and lovely man whom everyone adored, most of all his grandchildren. Life was always an adventure with Grampa Ashby and his big farm toys! Our heartfelt prayers and condolences to Sharon, Shawn, Stephanie and extended family. May his memory be eternal and may God comfort this great loss.

We are so sorry for Steve's passing. He was an asset to have grown up and made the Remington area proud to say he was from there.

My wife and I had the pleasure of knowing Steve during our high school days at Remington High School and in the years following. He was one of the nicest people we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. There's an old saying "A man preaches a better sermon with his life than with his lips" Steve was living proof of this.
He will be sorely missed
