Steven DiPiano Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 16, 2025.
Steven "Steve" DiPiano, 62, of Tampa, FL (formerly of Malvern, PA) passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 6, 2025. He was the husband of Elaine (Rowland) DiPiano. They would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Pasquale DiPiano and the late Dolores DiPiano. Steve was a graduate of the Great Valley School District, Malvern, PA, and RETS Electronic School in Broomall, PA. Steve built a 40-year career as an accomplished RF Specialist beginning at General Electric in King of Prussia, PA, and then with Lockheed Martin in Valley Forge and Newtown, PA. Steve was with Lockheed for almost 32 years, with the last 10 years at the Oldsmar, FL facility. He was greatly committed to his work, but it was never a question that his family was his priority.

He loved taking his family on camping trips and enjoyed boating in Maryland. Steve was affectionately known as "The Mayor" as you could find him on the sidelines of Nick's lacrosse games or Lindsay's karate classes talking to everyone he met.

Life with Steve was early morning breakfasts laughing at Three Stooges reruns, a running Pink Floyd soundtrack, outings to sit by the water for lunch (preferably with a burger!), the best dad jokes you've ever heard, and a warm hand on your shoulder. He was the Captain Kirk on duty for lengthy treks up the coast to visit his family in Pennsylvania and Maryland. There, he joyfully participated in laughs on the deck, trips to Chocolate World, and bumpy tractor rides to pick fruit at the orchard with his grandchildren who affectionately called him "Pop-Pop".

He will be remembered fondly for his truly unique laugh (which his grandkids loved to imitate), his love for relaxing on the beach, and his unwavering loyalty, love and dedication to his family. Steve will be deeply missed, but remembered constantly for the legacy and foundation that he laid for the family that he built and his example of neighborly service in the lives of all he knew.

In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by his two children, Lindsay (Jonathan) Gostkowski; Nicholas (Lauren) DiPiano; four grandchildren, Graham DiPiano, Blaire DiPiano, Walker DiPiano, Harley Gostkowski, and Baby Gostkowski on the way. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ike and Pam Rowland; John and Lesley Rowland; and brother, Craig. Steve is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Adam, Tazia (Doug), Courtney, Kaitlyn, Megan, and Ava. Steve was pre-deceased by his mother-in-law, Janet Rowland Shores, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lori and Lee Dobbs.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Steve's life at a memorial service on February 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church, 100 W. Uwchlan Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335. Memorial contributions can be made in Steve's honor to Central Presbyterian Church towards the continued development of Central's Children & Youth Programs.

Dear Elaine. I don't even know what to say. This was such a shock. Steve was such a good guy and way to young for this. He was one of the few people that my John was comfortable with. My love to you and your family.

My condolences to Elaine and family, Steve was my next door neighbor for seven years. We became good friends. He and Elaine were the best neighbors you could have. Steve was thoughtful and generous. He was always volunteering to fix or replace something around my house ( he had every tool for the job). He was one of a kind. Steve, you will be missed, my friend.

My condolences to Elaine and family. Steve was my next door neighbor when we bought our homes in 2017. We went from being neighbors to good friends. He always had smile on his face when we would see each other. I can´t thank him enough for looking after my house while I was gone for the summers. He would text me almost every Saturday to let me everything was okay. Thank you, Steve. You will be missed, my friend.

We send our most heartfelt sympathy to Elaine and family. We consider them precious members of our family and we will miss Steve hugely. Their children are the tribute to the great parents that they were and are and their children's love and caring for them and for their own children carry Steve's compassion and humor forward forever. Steve was a great co- worker. He would always give me helpful tips on how to take care of my car. I remember I bought a new set of tires and he pretty much told me I got riped off. Lol. I loved his honest sense of humor. He will truly be missed. God bless..

Steve was a good friend and I will miss him very much. Steve and I were both long term LMCO employees in King of Prussia Pa. Our office and test lab desks were next to each other for over ten years. We talked about everything but mostly about our families, especially our children. Steve was so proud of his kids and we would always have a story to tell each other. I heard about every Lacrosse and Karate match and camping trip and I would relate endlessly about my son´s who did Tae Kwon Do and our family vacations. Even after he and Elaine moved to Florida we continued our long text messages or phone conversations. He was a dear friend and I will him very much. Peace be with you my friend.
