Steven Fox Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 27, 2025.
Steven Howard Fox

May 23, 1944 - July 23, 2025

Steven Howard Fox, affectionately known as Steve or "Poppy," passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in the Bronx, New York, on May 23, 1944, he grew up in Whitestone, Queens. After graduating high school, Steve moved to Yonkers, New York, in 1968 with his loving wife, Wendy. The couple later relocated to upstate New York before finally settling in Danbury, Connecticut.

Steve had a long and successful career in construction that spanned over five decades. He worked extensively throughout Westchester County, NY, Greenwich, CT, and various boroughs of New York City, always alongside his loyal crew members-Albert, Enrique, Eduardo, Giovanni, and many others. Known for his tireless work ethic and unwavering integrity, Steve treated his clients with respect and honesty, building not only homes but long lasting relationships.

He is survived by his devoted wife of over 60 years, Wendy, and their three daughters: Cindy, Lisa and Debra, and their loving spouses: Joe, Bobby and Basil. Steve also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Justin, Nicole, Alex, Kelsey, Lindsay, Sisco, Sammy, Zachary, Tyler, Jake and Jacqueline, as well as his cherished great-grandchildren, Skylar and Sienna. He was a beloved brother to Paula (deceased) and Eddie-as well as his honorary sister Dorothy. He was a mentor and friend to many, including his crew and the close-knit group known as the "Danbury Dozen."

Steve had a deep passion for his work and family. He found joy in traveling, especially cruising, and loved spending time in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, Florida, where he enjoyed the company of close friends like Dorothy and visitors from Canada and Michigan. He also enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos, and sharing laughs and stories with loved ones. When he wasn't traveling, he thoroughly enjoyed cuddling with his baby boy- his cat, Louie.

Steve will be remembered as a man of strong values, generosity, and compassion.

His family fondly remembers his famous sayings: "I gotta go to work," "I gotta call my men," and "Come on, Wend-."

Steven Fox was the definition of hard-working and pure-hearted. His legacy of love, dedication, and integrity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on August 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the home of Basil and Debra.

Dear Wendy and Family, I am so saddened to know that Steve has passed away. I´m glad that I got to see him on July 4th and he was enjoying being with everyone. I know he´s at peace now and no longer suffering, but it doesn´t make it easier. He was a wonderful, kind, caring man who loved his family unconditionally. My heartfelt condolences to Wendy and all of the family that he loved so much.
