One of our classmates told me this sad news. Steve was my best friend in high school for several years. He was a talented and a sensitive young man. He played a twelve-string guitar beautifully; I hope he continued playing. I visited him often at the farm, and his mom was a lovely, warm, and welcoming woman.

Steve and I were in Mrs. Carson's first grade class together at Parkview Elementary in Lovington in 1959-1960, and of course we graduated together in 1971. Great friend all through school. Sincere condolences to Newt and all of Steve's family; may the Lord grant you His peace. --Brad Layton
