I was also in the Surfcats with Steve and second Marks response. Thought I'd add a favorite picture of Steve, playing a guitar he made from parts he got on eBay at a fundraiser at the Nickle Joint in St. Paul. When the band first formed we played a few Ventures tunes from the 60's and Steve suggested we call the band "The Dentures", another example of his sense of humor and word play.
We miss you Steve!

So Sorry to hear this news! Sympathies to Jeanette and family. I really enjoyed working with Steve at 3M and playing with him in the Surfcats band. Steve was a wonderful guitar player and a great guy. I can still see him standing next to me - each of us asking the other what the next chord is - and then laughing about it! I always thought we might get together for a reunion sometime. Miss you Steve.

My sympathies to Jeanette and all of the Stolle family. As Kurt Sundquist's sister, I grew up knowing Steve and absolutely loved his quick wit and sense of humor. He could say the funniest things in his quiet way! I can still picture Steve and Kurt walking down Clover Lane with their bag lunches to Hayes Elementary School every day like 2 peas in a pod, as my mom would say. Steve was such a unique and talented person and had all the traits you would wish for in a friend. It's no wonder he will be missed so much by everyone who knew him.

Our camping trip in 2012 took us to Magdelena where we had a blast staying with Steve and Jeanette for a few days. Steve took us to the VLA (Very Large Array) by their place since Steve and I have always had an interest in astronomy. Steve will always be my best friend and I will miss him very much. Here is a picture of Steve acting as our 'tour guide' at the VLA.
