Sunshine (Sunny) Millar Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 4, 2024.
Sunshine (Sunny) Marie Millar, 49, of Gig Harbor, Washington, passed away on

Saturday, January 27, 2024. She is remembered as a loving daughter, mother, sister

and friend. Sunny was born on November 4, 1974, at University Hospital, Seattle

WA. Except for a short period of time in Las Vegas, Nevada and Boise, Idaho,

Sunny was a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest. She lived in Seattle,

Vashon, Des Moines, Federal Way, Olympia, Tacoma and Gig Harbor. She

graduated from Olympia High School in 1993, where she received The Washington

State Honors Award for outstanding academic achievement, The Presidential

Academic Fitness Award, as well as a Letter of Commendation from the National

Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. She graduated from The Evergreen State

College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from Pacific Lutheran University, with

a Master of Arts in Education. Sunny was just so smart and creative.

She worked a variety of jobs and loved working with all kinds of people.

In 2009, she bought her beloved rustic home and retreat, on over an acre in the Gig

Harbor woods, where she raised her daughter. She was surrounded by her fruit

orchard, blackberries, chickens, vegetable garden, a rock garden and fountain,

goldfish pond and other northwest flora and fauna. She loved her home, her garden,

her animals and her family.

She was a bright, talented, artistic and eclectic soul. Sunny was always ready with

a smile, which embodied her name, for her friends and family.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Ava Marie Millar, mother Lesley

Rogers, father Richard Millar (Annette), brothers Joel Millar and Matthew

Thomson, stepsister Pamela Taylor (Ted), stepbrother Brian Cooper (Joanne) and

many loving aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rest in Peace dear Sunny. The gift of your love will remain with us forever.
