Susan News Obituary
She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Jacob News, and her father, James Deal. She is survived by her mother, Mary Kathryn Deal.
She was a well known event planner who meticulously and creatively handled projects under her care. She planned many successful fundraising events including The Richmond Ballet and Virginia Nurses Association. She faced her illness with that same courage and determination. In her personal life, she so enjoyed spending time with her friends creating memories and celebrating life.
The funeral will be held on March 20, 2025 at 1:30 pm at St. Stephens Episcopal Church at 6000 Grove Avenue, Richmond, Virginia. Private graveside burial.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sibley Memorial Hospital, Leukemia research, in honor of Dr. Mark Levis.

I find myself reaching for the phone to call you and have one of our many...long talks...then realize you are not there.....but in a better,more restful place with our Lord and Jacob and your other Loved Ones. Rest in Peace my Sweet girl...We will see you again for sure! Love you forever! Tricia

I really do miss you Susan ... especially our unbelievably long phone conversations. I believe you are at peace and happy with Jacob and that is what matters. One day I will see you again.

I have fond memories of Susan growing up. Funny, smart, engaging, and beautiful. Never got a chance to ask her out as she was always with someone, especially one guy.
I'm sorry we didn't stay in touch. She's at peace now.
