Susanne Thomson Loyd Susanne Thomson Loyd, born July 4, 1940, in Presho, South Dakota, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 27, 2023, surrounded by her loving family, friends, and beloved dog Babs by her side.

Susanne is survived by her son Ian, daughter Alexandra Loyd Knight, son-in-law Brady Knight, grandsons Thomson and Truett Knight, and sister Sandra Burrows.

Susanne grew up in Presho, South Dakota, with her older sisters Nancy and Sandra. She attended Sophie Newcomb, Tulane University, where she was a Kappa Alpha Theta sorority member. Susanne moved to Houston after graduation and worked in education with special needs children. In 1972, she married Harold Lynn Loyd, and they shared a beautiful life together until he passed in 2005. She was active in her communities in Taos and Houston, finding her passion for supporting those who needed help most by donating her time, money, and efforts to causes she loved and felt passionate about.

Susanne was a bright light and friend to all. She loved to travel; she loved all animals and adored her friends and children. Her happy place was in the mountains of Taos, where she loved to watch sunsets. She had a collection of devoted and loving friends in Taos and Houston, where she will be deeply missed.

Susanne was empathetic and kind, often donating her time working in animal shelters and nurturing foster babies with Casa de Esperanza. She adored her children and grandchildren to no end.

The family would like to extend gratitude and love to Grace Kelly, Elisa Palacios, Helen Duco Sharpless, Dolores Cruz, and Wade Knight, who were selfless in their constant love and care.

Susanne loved animals, especially dogs. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to any charity that cares for stray animals or any cause that champions animal or human rights.
