Tamara Cox Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 5, 2024.
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and wife, Tamara Lynn Cox. She was born on May 24, 1961 and passed away on June 4, 2024. More than just an amazing mother and wife, Tami was a source of joy and positivity to all those around her. Her fight with cancer did not define her - she truly lived life to the fullest each and every day. Tami was an inspiration to all those with the privilege to know her and left an everlasting mark on all.

Tami's unwavering love for life was infectious. She never seemed to have a bad day, and this radiant positivity uplifted those around her. She had a remarkable ability to make each person she encountered feel unique and valued as if they were an integral part of her life.

Tami was a devoted mother and wife who loved her family deeply. She was a spirited soccer mom and thrilled her daughters carried on her legacy at Alpha Chi Omega. Tami was honored to play such an integral role in planning both girls' weddings and was over the moon when she became a Nana to her adorable grandson, Graham. Tami and Dave met in college and quickly became best friends and soul mates. They loved to explore, travel the world, and discover new restaurants with live music to dance the night away. Dave's devotion to Tami was unwavering throughout her entire life, but especially during her cancer journey. He was her rock, constant support system, and love of her life.

Her enthusiasm for her alma mater's University of Iowa sports, particularly football and women's basketball, was a testament to her competitive nature and passion. Tami's competitive spirit dates back to high school where she was a cheerleader, diver, gymnast, band member, and track and field star. This competitiveness continued into college when she won back-to-back women's intramural arm-wrestling titles and second place in women's singles table tennis.

A true card and board game enthusiast, Tami created connection, laughter, and friendly competition with everyone she played alongside. Tami had a passion for teaching water aerobics and Zumba, creating great friendships along the way.

Tami leaves behind a legacy of love, tenacity, and zest for life. She is survived by her loving husband Dave; children Ali Ducatelli (Steven and grandson Graham) and Katie Muller (Chris); mother Darlene Sitz; siblings Herb Sitz, Bill Sitz, and Jen Sitz Holl (Cary); beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews, all of whom carry forward the lessons she imparted and love she shared. In heaven, Tami reunites with her father Herbert Sitz; grandparents Zella and Herbert Sitz; and grandparents Bernice and Howard Snyder.

As we celebrate Tami's life, we remember a life lived to the fullest and one that radiated optimism and strength. Though she may have left this world, her spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Tami's legacy will continue to inspire us to live each day with the same unwavering love, boundless enthusiasm, and unshakeable courage to continue forward. She will forever be with us in heart and spirit.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation in Tami's name. 100% of donations received go directly towards paying the essential, non-medical living expenses of someone with cancer.

My husband Bill (who is now deceased) met up with Tami and Dave in January 2022 cruise on the celebrity Silhouette. We found out in the pool at majestic palms that we were going to be on the same ship. Great times with great people. Tami will be greatly missed. She always wore that great Smile. My heart goes out to Dave and your family.

Tami holds a special place in my heart and my sincere condolences go out to her family. When I moved in 8th grade to her neighborhood, she made me feel so very welcome (we had so much fun trick or treating as bumble bees) and she was my amazingly gifted and caring teammate on the swimming/diving team all through high school. She was a wonderful and talented person.

My name is Jeanine . I use to teach Zumba at Crunch in Fort Myers and Tammy use to always be up front to the left of me in almost every class. She was my inspiration as I battled breast cancer . Seeing her in class going through it all was a complete joy knowing her love for Zumba never stopped her. She will forever be in my heart and always in my thoughts. Rest in Peace Tammy . Kisses & Hugs !

We met Tami at Majestic Palms. We loved the potlucks and game nights she organized. Tami was always the first one on the dance floor. We spent hours floating in the pool and sharing stories of life with lots of laughter. Love never dies.
