Tanya Cummings Obituary
In addition to being a home maker, she worked as a Hairdresser immediately after high school and later worked at Chace Leather in Fall River for many years.
She is survived by her four children: Kevin J. Cummings of Fall River, Tonya Jackson-Cummings and her fiancé Tony Cabral of New Bedford, Tara Greaney and her husband Patrick of Holden, MA and Chad P. Cummings and his wife Lee of Leroy, NY, three sisters; Nancy Oliveira, Lana Texeira and Sandra Litaway all of Fall River, eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was mother of the late Jason P. Cummings and sister of the late Michael Litaway.
Her Funeral will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 8AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at CHERRY PLACE, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9AM in Holy Trinity Church, 951 Stafford Rd., Fall River. Visiting hours Friday from 4 to 8PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Fall River Football Challenge 811 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford, MA 02745. Cummings family, please accept my sincere condolences for the sudden loss of your dear loved one! Although we met only a few months ago, Tanya was the type of individual you would enjoy interacting with and be pleased to meet. She was such a pleasure to have as a neighbor! To Tanya's family: Although we were cousins, regretfully, we only met a few times. My memories are few, but precious. I remember Tanya's warm, welcoming smile, and that she and my mother, Mary Litaway, had a very special relationship. My thoughts and sympathy are with you.

Matt and I started dating when we were sixteen, and I met his family then. (Tanya called him Matthew.)Tanya and I liked each other right away. She often styled my hair and did so for our wedding. After my sister who was my matron of honor, she was the first person I asked to be a bridesmaid.
Matt remembers times at her home when they were children. Her mother , Kitty, and Matt's mother,Ann, were sisters. Later, when Matt's mother was ill and stayed with Kitty, Tanya would dress her hair.
We visited Tanya before her recent move and again in January in her new apartment. We're so glad we had that time with her.

Mrs. Cummings was an amazing woman and mother. Her life revolved around her family, her children. She was a second mom to many of us. Love and prayers with Kevin, Tonya, Tara and Chad. She will be missed, but never forgotten.

To the entire Cummings family, I knew your mother from the gym. We became instant friends and I truly enjoyed our morning talks. She helped me by listening to me and I know I helped her by listening to her. She was a wonderful person, always so upbeat even through adversity. I count her among one of my best friends and I know I will miss her dearly, the gym will never be the same for me, I want her to walk through the door and say hello. She is with Jay now, and perhaps he really needed her to be with him, what else can I believe in except the fact they are together. I will always remember her and think of her often.
