Ted Ballard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 19, 2018.
Theodore William "Ted" Ballard Jr., aka "The Greek," 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 17, 2018, at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living.

Ted was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Theodore William "Spike" Ballard Sr. and Edna "Bingo" Ballard on August 7, 1932. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served upon the USS Howard W. Gilmore, learning the machinist trade.

He married the only love of his life, Sharron Taylor, on May 31, 1950, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They settled in Idaho Falls where he joined his father in the family business, Idaho Falls Foundry & Machine. Ted managed the business for 53 years, leaving it to his sons and daughter upon his retirement in 2007.

Ted was happiest at the helm of his yacht, "Drifty I" on the Palisades Reservoir with his family aboard. He and Sharron spent many years enjoying Star Valley Ranch, honing their golf game and entertaining their family. Ted lived life to it's fullest, enjoying riding and racing his snow machines, creating fine works of art in his wood shop, scuba diving and dutch oven cooking.

Ted is preceded in death by his wife, Sharron; parents, Spike and Bingo; and his brother, Jerry.

Ted is survived by his twin sons, Scott (Annie) Ballard; son, Randy (Jacklyn) Ballard of Lake Havasu, AZ; daughter, Kellie (Greg) Nielson; Cameron (Alisha) Ballard; 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren with one expected. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Tuffy.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Gage Ballard, Chukk Nielson, Brent Tyler, Genaro Labra, Dalton Dummer and Jesse Coburn. A celebration of life luncheon will be held at Wood East Side following the interment.
