Teresa Lawhead Obituary
Teresa M. Lawhead, "Slim", late of Chesterton, IN and formerly of Burnham, IL passed away Monday, July 11, 2016 from injuries sustained in a tragic motorcycle accident. Cherished daughter of Lillian and the late Edward C. Lawhead Sr., former Police Chief for the Village of Burnham, IL. Loving sister of Edward C. Lawhead Jr., Timothy "Timmy" (Emily) Lawhead, Patricia Lawhead, late Elizabeth Lawhead, late Kathleen Lawhead and late Michael Lawhead. Fond aunt of Heather, Edward C. III, David A., John Paul, Susan and Michael Lawhead, Melissa Lawhead-Coombs and Bridget Bowman. Also survived by her beloved fur babies Katy and Cooper. Teresa was an administrative assistant for the Miller, Shakman and Been Law Firm, a member of the Gear Dolls All Ladies Motorcycle Group, an avid tennis and billiards player and a former State of Illinois Free Throw Champion. Teresa was very active in the community as an event planner/ coordinator for numerous charitable events and motorcycle Poker Runs. Her generosity and caring attitude towards friends, strangers and even pets touched the lives of countless people and made their lives better. We cannot express how truly she will be missed but never forgotten. Say "Hello" to your sister Kathy and brother Michael in Heaven! Sadly, her brother Tim couldn't look out for her this time! But he was there for her to hold her hand as she passed away! Visitation Friday 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Elmwood Funeral Chapel 11300 W. 97th Lane (1/2 block west of U.S. 41/Wicker Ave. at 97th St.) St. John. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated. Contributions may be mailed to Elmwood Funeral Chapel or directly to the family at P.O. My sincerest sympathy to the Lawhead family. I have many wonderful memories of Teresa, from growing up in Burnham to riding the South Shore to work. Teresa will be deeply missed by the many people whose life she touched and forever changed with her sense of humor, generosity, and kindness.

My condolences to the Lawhead family. Teresa was my co-worker and we sat next to each other at Miller Shakman. She was a wonderful person and I am glad to have known her. I am so saddened by her sudden passing. It is very quiet here at work now that she is gone. It makes me sad to not see her sitting at her desk. She always had so much energy. She was full of life and loved those pups Katy and Cooper so much. She talked about them every day. She truly will be missed. May you Rest in Peace Teresa. I miss you and all your crazy stories. Work won't be the same without you.

Teresa was part of our little group of Southshore Train Buddies, as train buddies we shared the good and the bad at the end of the day. Teresa will be missed. She was always great at making people laugh and she was a great listener. My deepest sympathy to the family.

R.I.P. Teresa Lawhead, our dear cousin. Her last act of a a long list of kind acts was to donate her organs so another could live on. Thanks Teresa. You were loved by all who knew you and will be forever missed. We are better people for having known you. Family is forever.
