NEW BERLIN - Terry Richard Maize, 57, of 503 Market St. entered into eternal rest at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2004, in Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, where he was a patient since July 8. He was a lifetime resident of New Berlin.
He was born Sept. 10, 1946, in New Berlin, a son of the late Glenn Orville and Mary Edith (Smith) Maize. On May 10, 1975, he married the former Christine Anne Horn, who survives. They were married in Hanover by his father-in-law, the late Rev. Andrew N. Horn.
Terry was a graduate of Mifflinburg High School, Class of 1964, and a graduate of the Thaddeus Stevens Trade School, Lancaster, Class of 1968, where he studied drafting.
For the past 21 years, he was an estimator with Keister Construction Co. Inc., Winfield. Before that, he was a draftsman and foreman with Buchart-Horn Engineers, Lewisburg, and Fayette Contractors, Chambersburg.
Terry was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin, and a former member of the church consistory.
He was also a member of the Kleckner Spring Rod and Gun Club, Centre County.
Terry was an unwavering fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was also a Civil War history buff and enjoyed visiting historical sites. His other interests included fishing; spending time in the mountains with his German shepherd; watching NASCAR races, where he was an avid Dale Jarrett fan; ice hockey games; visiting his daughter in Pittsburgh; and he especially enjoyed ice cream.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Kellee Anne Maize of Pittsburgh, and one sister, Gloria J. Maize of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lewis Orville Maize, on Nov. 26, 1969.
A life celebration service in honor of Terry will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 326 Market St., New Berlin, with the Rev. Dwayne D. Nichols, pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, Kratzerville, officiating in the absence of his pastor, the Rev. Alice D. Rauch, who is on vacation.
A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in memory of Terry may be made to the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the American Diabetes Association, 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18700, or to the SPCA, 2801 Bloom Road, Danville, PA 17821.
The family is being served by the James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, Vine and Liberty streets, New Berlin.
