Terry O'Sullivan

Terry O'Sullivan, a former radio announcer and actor who spent 12 years playing Arthur Tate on the daytime drama "Search for Tomorrow," died Thursday, his daughter said. He was 91. O'Sullivan died at Our Lady of Good Counsel Home hospice in St. Paul. He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just eight days earlier, said his daughter, Elizabeth O'Sullivan. Terry O'Sullivan, most recently of Minnetonka, played the leading role of Arthur Tate for 12 years on "Search for Tomorrow" and he received the TV Radio Mirror magazine award for favorite daytime drama actor on television in 1953, 1954 and 1955. He also received a medal from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for distinguished service, Elizabeth O'Sullivan said. She said her father started his career in the 1930s in tent shows, appearing in small theaters before moving to radio and eventually to television. He returned to Minnesota in the early 1970s, where he continued to work in local theater, as well as take on various acting and modeling jobs.
