Terry Taylor Vaughn was born February 1st, 1954 in Massillon Ohio. On Monday April 17, 2023, Terry passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones having succumbed to cancer following a 6 ½ year courageous and hard fought battle. She grew up in Massillon attending Jackson High school where she graduated in 1973. She earned a bachelors degree in Marketing from Ohio University. After graduating she moved to Houston Texas where she worked as a Systems Analyst for the City of Houston Health Department. Terry met Ken in July of 1982. They married in September of 1984. Later she went onto work at an Actuarial company and then to Spring Branch ISD. Terry made a career change to become a Household Engineer to focus her love on two beautiful boys, Daniel and Marcus. In 2009, Terry found her calling to become a Nurse and attended Lone Star College and became an RN 2 years later. In 2010, she retired from nursing so that she could help Daniel through his recovery from a brain tumor which left him blind. Despite being diagnosed with cancer herself in 2016, she continued to provide the needed assistance, love and devotion to help Daniel graduate from Law School in 2017.
Terry truly had a heart of gold and would do anything for her family, friends and even strangers. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed by many near and far. Having achieved so much in her life, her proudest achievement without a doubt was Daniel and Marcus. This was captured in a televised news interview: https://www.khou.com/article/features/blind-brain-tumor-survivor-graduates-from-tsu-law-school/285-439411310
She will forever be in our hearts and the loss of her bright light will truly leave this world just a little emptier for all. She is proceeded in death by her father Ralph Taylor, mother Dorothy Taylor, brother Michael Taylor and son Daniel. Terry is survived by her husband Ken, and her son Marcus along with numerous cousins.
We will hold a Celebration of Life on Saturday May 6th at 2pm at 9719 Wortham Blvd, Houston, TX 77065 in order for everyone to celebrate, share and reflect on the life of such a wonderful and beautiful individual. Burial will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the local SPCA in honor of her love of animals and her numerous pets or to the American Cancer Society.

Terry was my best friend of 29 years. She will be deeply missed. We have shared so many precious memories. She will always be in my heart. Thoughts and prayers go to Ken and Marcus. She told me on the Thursday before she passed that she was ready to be with her loved ones Dan, her brother, and her mom and dad.
Until we meet again.
Those special memories of you
will always bring a smile
if only I could have you
back for just a little while.
Then we could sit and talk again
just like we used to do.
You always meant so very much
and always will do too.
The fact that you're no longer
here will always cause me pain
but, you'te forever in my heart
until we meet again.

Ken, Sandy and I are sorry for your loss, and we send our condolences at this sad time. I hope these words help with the difficult journey.
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind?
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Terry was a wonderful woman with a kind heart. I got to know her shortly after meeting her son, Dan. She quickly treated me as one of the family and as my relationship with Dan grew, so did my friendship with Terry. We would offer sit together and enjoy coffee, just visiting and sharing stories. We worked together to help Dan through law school, although she had to do the majority of the in class part. I’ll admit, I looked up to and respected her for the way she was always there for her family. Even after Dan passed, she continued to welcome me over for coffee and she remained my friend. I will miss our shared pet photos and stories over coffee. Heaven gained an angel the day the world lost her shining example of a loving woman, mother and friend.
