Theodore H. Karamallis 1917-2007 SPRINGFIELD - Theodore H. "Harry" Karamallis, 90, of Springfield died on Saturday September 29, 2007. Born in New York City, NY, the son of the late George and Fotini (Homatas) Karamallis, he was a longtime resident of Springfield. Harry retired as a teacher of auto mechanics at Putnam Vocational High School, and was a service manager at the former Ralph D. Jones Volkswagen Dealership, both in Springfield. His passions, outside of his dedication to his family, included church activities, music, photography, politics, and the St George Olympian's Drum and Bugle Corps. Harry served in The U.S. Army during World War II, participating in the Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns, and received the Bronze Star. He also was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of St Luke in East Longmeadow. Harry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Venetia (Albanes) Karamallis; his children, Elaine K. Nelson of Scituate, MA, George S. Karamallis and his wife Nina of Morristown, NJ, and Faith K. Perrault and her husband Joseph of Wilbraham; his five granddaughters, Ariana and Alexandra Karamallis, Meredith Nelson, Renee Mancuso and her husband Jason, and Mariel Perrault. Mr. Karamallis will lie in state on Wednesday October 3rd from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Luke, 400 Prospect Street in East Longmeadow followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Church, with Rites of Committal and Military Honors to follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street in Springfield. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday October 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Harry's memory to the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Luke, 400 Prospect Street, East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
