Theodore Wall Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 9, 2023.
Ted passed away at home suddenly in his sleep in the early hours of November 27, 2017 due to heart failure related to a congenital heart condition. Ted was born in Portland, OR to Kingsley (Bud) and Betty (Maleta) Wall. He grew up in the Cedar Mill area of west Portland. He attended Cedar Mill Grade School, Cedar Park Middle School, and Sunset High School. Ted was born with a heart condition, Tetralogy of Fallot, that required surgical repair when Ted was 5 years old. As a kid, Ted enjoyed fishing and camping with his grandparents and family. He was on the baseball team for quite a few years and also played ice hockey. He became a General Contractor and was involved in residential building from decks and roofs to whole houses and finish carpentry. His friends knew him as the "Hold my beer" guy who really enjoyed doing daring things. Ted married Robin Colonna in 1995, and he and Robin made their home in North Plains up in the hills west of Hillsboro, OR. He loved the outdoors and he enjoyed many camping trips with friends. He enjoyed off road motorcycles, jet skis, ATVs, and RC cars (radio controlled). He had a project car that he dearly loved, a 1962 Toyota Land Cruiser. He was a fan of WWF wrestling. He was a heavy metal music fan, even playing a Whitesnake song for their wedding recessional. Ted golfed almost every year in Clam Pit Classic golf tournament, a group of family and friends, at Neskowin on the Oregon coast, another of his favorite places. His favorite pets were his cats, though he did have one little dog, Shelby, that was very special to him. Ted had a second heart surgery in 2015 to do some more repairs. He became a believer in Jesus Christ within the last 10 years of his life. He and Robin attended Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, OR. Ted is preceded in death by his father, Kingsley Wall. He is survived by his wife, Robin; his mother Betty Maleta Wall; and his two sisters and their spouses, Leanne (Mike Dougherty) and Marlaina (Ted Smith); three Maleta cousins: Mark (Mary), Greg (Sandy), and Matt (Tina); and their children. A Memorial Service was held at Evergreen Presbyterian Church on December 16, 2017. Arrangements: Fuiten, Rose, and Hoyt, Forest Grove, OR. Burial: Finley's Sunset Hills, Portland, OR. Please make donations to: OHSU Knight Cardiovascular Institute, Portland, OR.

The following tribute was written by Ted's Mom, Betty Wall, on his birthday August 31, 2018, the year after he passed on:

Today is my son, Ted's, Birthday.

Ted loved the beach and he particularly loved Neskowin where we have been celebrating his birthday for many, many years. He loved seeing family, and special friends gathering for our annual Labor Day weekend. As a little guy he loved playing in Neskowin Creek, he loved gathering around bonfires on the beach at night, he loved all the fun things to do, and as he got older, he loved fishing and later jet skiing at Pacific City and Devil's Lake. He especially loved to play golf in our annual Clam Pit Classic. He didn't care how he did, he just enjoyed seeing and talking to everyone (and we all know how Ted loved to talk!)

But this year will be different - our Father in heaven sent his angels to take Ted home last November, and he will be celebrating his birthday in heaven with his dad and all the family members and amazing friends who are there with him now. So remember when you are on the beach or playing in the Clam Pit that Ted is smiling down on all of you wishing you a fabulous weekend!

Ted was a great person. It is still strange to think of him as being in heaven now and not here with all of us. We always enjoyed seeing him at Neskowin and on Christmas. Greg spent much more time with him since they were cousins and grew up together. I am sure it is still difficult for Betty and her kids, our cousins not having him close by. God Bless to the family.
