Theodore Williams, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 31, 2024.
Theodore Edward Williams, Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 22, 2024, at the age of 88. He was the devoted husband to Esther Marie Daniels Williams, and devoted father of Melissa M. Williams (M. Scott Mullenbach), Melinda M. Johansen (Bo), and Meredith M. Engstrom (Scott). He was a loving grandfather to Michael and Cadence Mullenbach, Sophie and Olivia Johansen, and Halena Engstrom.

Theodore was born on June 5, 1936 to Theodore and Florence (Brehm) Williams in Cicero, Illinois. He attended St. George School in Evanston, followed by Georgetown University and Northwestern University. He proudly served in the United States Navy, and his love for his country remained steadfast throughout his life.

Theodore spent his career as a well-respected and dedicated stocker broker; his passion and vast comprehension of the market, and its many inflections, resulted in a nearly 50-year career, and he is well-remembered by his clients. Theodore met Esther in 1970, while both worked within the same firm. Theodore invited Esther to an office Christmas party, declared his intention to marry her, and they eloped five months later on May 26, 1970. They settled in Lake Forest, Illinois where they raised their family, and enjoyed their friends, their church, and much joy. Their unbreakable bond, steadfast love, and mutual respect for each other continued for 54 years of marriage.

Theodore was a strong presence; fiercely intelligent and combined his knowledge with dry humor and quick wit, which always made for entertaining conversation. He was loyal to the end and widely known for his death grip of a handshake. He was honorable and generous, and often said, "If I have it, I'll give it."

We, his family, know he did everything earthly possible to stay with us, but departed faithfully to our Lord and Savior, and we take comfort in knowing the light of the Holy Spirit shines upon his face for eternity.

A memorial service celebrating Theodore's life will be held on August 2, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Christ Church of Lake Forest, Illinois.
