Theodore Yaggee Obituary

Theodore L. Yaggee, age 88; of Downers Grove, passed away December 10, 2008 at his home. Born July 11, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan. Graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn. Ted then went to work in the design & engineering field, most notably as an assistant to Harley Earl in the GM design department, earning money to help his four younger siblings through their college educations. Only after they had all graduated did he then resume his own studies at the University of Michigan School of Engineering. After earning his first degree he embarked on a long and prolific engineering and design career in a variety of fields - aviation, marine, civil, and nuclear power - across the U.S. and Canada, and also internationally. He played a major role in the design of facilities for the Port of San Juan, Puerto Rico, and in the design and construction of nuclear power plants in Europe and Russia. He loved traveling, both for work and for pleasure, and made at least two trip s to Tahiti. Ted valued family and his career, and had a n abiding faith in the value of education. He was pre-deceased by all of his siblings, brothers Eugene and Frank, and sisters Mary Ann and Roslynn (Rose). He is survived by nephews Thomas, Scott and David Marlowe, and by nephew Kurt Schaefer and niece Katherine Schaefer. Visitation and Funeral was Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home, 4343 Main St (1 blk So. of Ogden Ave) Downers Grove.
