Theresa Ann Cosby

Theresa Ann Cosby, 68, of El Segundo, California, passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on January 25, 2024, in El Segundo, California. She was born on September 4, 1955. Teri was a compassionate and beautiful person, both inside and out. She was known for her thoughtfulness, intelligence, and caring nature. She was also a straight-shooter who was never afraid to speak her mind and express her true feelings. Teri was generous in every sense of the word and was considered "the best mom in the world" by her boys. She was happily married to the love of her life, Jerry Cosby, for a beautiful 34 years. Her loving and humorous personality brought joy to those around her.

Teri is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry, and their sons, Kyle and Zack, as well as her daughter-in-law, Kayla, and granddaughter, Ofelia Mattix Cosby. She is also survived by her siblings, Frederick Jr. and Mary. Teri was a sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Teri was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Smith, and her mother, Gloria Smith.

Teri attended Hawthorne High School, graduating with the Class of 1973. She pursued a career as a waitress, working at The Golden Tail, The Wayfayer, Lacoco's and other establishments throughout the South Bay. But her most important job of all, the one she was most proud of, was raising her two handsome boys. She always said that being a mom to Kyle and Zack was the biggest accomplishment in her life and the best thing that ever happened to her. And she will always be grandma TT to Ofelia.

Teri was Catholic and she found solace and strength in her faith.

In her free time, Teri enjoyed various hobbies. She was a lover of movies and enjoyed going to concerts to see her favorites, Englebert Humperdinck and Rod Stewart. Teri also enjoyed visiting Las Vegas and Laughlin, trying her luck at slot machines. She cherished moments spent having dinner and drinks with her family and loved to bask in the sun.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Teri's memory.
