Thomas James CarneySouthern Pipe employee Services for Thomas James "Big Man" Carney will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Prospect Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Reid Whittington officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Carney, 70, of Meridian, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Heartfelt Hospice. He was a a sales and distribution employee for more than 44 years at Southern Pipe. He will be remembered as one who loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his dog Max. Survivors include his daughter, Tina Gill and her husband, Brad, of Starkville; granddaughters, Morgan Gill, Meredith Gill and Meghan Gill, all of Starkville; his sister, Joyce Robinson and her husband, Earl, of Meridian; a brother, Billy Carney and his wife, Kathy, of Toomsuba and a very special friend, Toni Lindley of the Dalewood Community and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sadie Carney; a brother, W.H. Carney and sisters, Doris Anthony and Mary Bane. Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
