Thomas Flynn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 12, 2025.
Dundee - Thomas Patrick Flynn, known affectionately as Tommy, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, at the age of 65.

Born on December 16, 1959, in Monroe, Michigan, Tom possessed an inquisitive spirit and a deep appreciation for beauty in all its forms. He graduated from Monroe Senior High School in 1978 and pursued higher education at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, laying the foundation for his professional aspirations.

Tom's career journey began with roles at Ford Motor Company and North Star Steel in Monroe, but he ultimately found his true calling in the hospitality industry. His natural leadership and unwavering integrity earned him deep respect among colleagues and employees alike. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel valued-an attribute that defined both his professional and personal life.

Beyond his work, Tom was a man of many passions. An avid animal lover, he found solace in nature and cherished time spent on the water. His love for architecture and design was evident in the beautiful homes he created over the years, each reflecting his impeccable taste and artistic vision. Cooking brought him joy, as he delighted in sharing meals with friends and family, believing food had the power to unite people.

Raised in the Lutheran faith, Tom later embraced the Serbian Orthodox tradition-a testament to his ever-evolving spiritual journey. He found comfort in Southern Florida's warmth before eventually returning to Michigan, where he spent his final days in Dundee-a place close to his heart.

Tom is survived by his sister Susan J. Biller of Chicago, Illinois; brothers Eugene H. Flynn (Cindy) of Monroe, Michigan; Michael A. Flynn (Zarina Nurmanova) of Ann Arbor, Michigan; twin brother Timothy P. Flynn (Robert Schmid) of Carmel, Indiana; and Daniel B. Flynn (Patti) of Monroe, Michigan. He also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and warmth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene H. and Eileen (Bosanac) Flynn, and his longtime friend Ronald Kerr.

Tom's life was filled with generosity, laughter, and an extraordinary ability to bring happiness to those around him. Though he has departed this world, his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched.

A private family gathering will be held in his honor. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to tomflynntributes.com in his memory, benefiting the Dundee Area Senior Center, Monroe County Humane Society, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeast Michigan.

"Though you're gone, the love we shared will never fade."

I cannot remember a time when Tom, Tim too, and I weren't friends. It actually all began in 5th grade. I could talk to Tom about anything and I believe he felt the same. I know sometimes we talked for hours! I don't have a big memory to share...our friendship wasn't like that. It was built on the many small everyday memories of our lives.
I'm so glad I got to talk to him one last time where, yes, we talked for hours! It's so hard to imagine the world without Tom in it...it's lost some brightness and spark. Tim and the rest of the Flynn siblings, I am so sorry and I cannot imagine how you are feeling. Tom was one in ay million. His humor and generosity of spirit are unparalleled. He will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all he touched.

I met Tom in Kindergarten at Boyd School in Monroe. He was the "oldest" person in class. I'm 9 days younger, it was a big deal in 1965...lol

Tom and Tim were my good friends all thru grade school.

May The Most High bring His comfort to the Flynn household during this tough time.
