I was privileged to know Tom through Minnesota golf. We were grouped together in various events including the Senior Amateur at Somerset in September of 2011. When we gathered at the front of the clubhouse for round 2 early on September 11, Tom told the tournament director what many of us were thinking, but only he had the courage to say it: "We shouldn't play today". I will not forget that. Tom and I were in the final group on day 3 when Tom won the Senior Amateur that year, and there was never a more deserving champion. He seemed always cheerful, polite and respectful, a good person and a gentleman. Minnesota golf will miss him.
Please accept my belated condolences and sympathy, but I only learned of Tom's passing via the Minnesota Golfer magazine in October.

Seeing the look of pride on Tom Garrett's face after his son Charlie had just won a spot to the varsity section swimming meet by finishing first in the 100 backstroke is something I will always remember. As Charlie got out of the water, Tom climbed out of the bleachers in his business suit, met Charlie on the pool deck and gave his son a fierce embrace with absolutely no regard as to getting wet. It was clearly evident that Tom's pride in his son knew no bounds. My sincerest thoughts and prayers go out to all members of the Garrett family.

I never got the privilege to meet Mr Garrett but I know his Daughter(Karen) very well. She is one the kindness, most generous people I know. She was the first person I met when moving to MN. I couldn't think of a better person to meet and make me feel so welcome to a new place. I know that Thomas Garrett was a good, kind person because he raised a wonderful person in Karen. I am so sorry for your loss, my prayers and thoughts are with the family during this most difficult time.

One only has to meet one of Tom Garrett's kids to know what type of man he was; I had the great pleasure of meeting Tom last year at a birthday celebration he planned for his daughter, Karen. While I can't speak about his other kids because I don't know them, Karen obviously had great respect for her father and adored him. It was clear in the way she spoke about him when I asked how he was doing and the things she did for him. One of our obligations as human beings is using our greatest gifts; compassion and empathy. Take the time to remember and acknowledge their loss.

Tom was a distinguished gentleman who knew and appreciated the true aspects of the game of golf. It was a game to be enjoyed and played by the Rules with no exceptions. Therefore, it's not surprising that he lived his life with honesty and respect for others and love and devotion to his family.

What a special gentleman. My son Chris and I had the pleasure of spending Saturday afternoon, June 23rd, with Tom, Charlie, and John playing Somerset, one of my favorite golf courses. Tom and I rode the cart and reminisced about our days of golf, dating back to when he was a Junior Member at North Oaks CC. It turned out to be one of my most memorable days on a golf course. He will be truly missed !

To Linda---I got to know you through Metro Bridge and remember when Tom was diagnosed with cancer. Your devotion was so evident as was your caring nature and fighting spirit. I have thought of Tom often the last few years even though I didn't have the privilege of meeting him. My heart goes out to you and your family. You are a beautiful person inside and out. God's blessings as you heal from this great loss.

As a medical device analyst at Piper Jaffray, I first met Tom and worked with Tom on the drafting of IPO public offering documents. Since St. Jude Medical was one of the med tech companies I followed, I saw Tom often at annual meetings, investor conferences, etc. After we were each "retired", we served together as investors and board members on a high tech start-up. I will remember Tom as one of the most ingratiating and generous people it has been my privilege to know.
My profound sympathies go out to Linda and the extended family.

Linda and everyone related to Tom, I knew the end was coming and I'm still so very sad to hear of Tom's passing. I was fortunate to know Tom and attend S.P.A. with him beginning in the seventh grade. I was also lucky enough to play many rounds of golf with Tom.' what a player. I was also blessed to connect with Tom over the last few years and had lunch with him in mid July. I spoke with him about two weeks ago and realized he had little time remaining. He had promised me he would hang on until a golf outing he had planned for next spring for our 50th reunion. I hope we can play a round in Tom's memory. 'just one great guy. He will be missed.

I have known and respected Tom when many of us worked on the first St. Jude heart valve and am a co- developer of that valve. I didn't know Tom was Ill, since I have been in AZ. since 1990. He was one fine man who deserves God's richest blessings.

I am saddened to learn of the loss of Tom's family and friends. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his great-grandfather and grandfather and the history of the Seeger Refrigerator Company. Facing complex and difficult medical prospects he represented and demonstrated similar strengths of temperament and character.
