On December 31, 2016 Thomas R. Gooley, of Parkton, MD; beloved husband of Carolanne Semesky Gooley; devoted father of Thomas Samuel Gooley, Kevin Joseph Gooley and Claire Marie Dixon Gooley; devoted brother of Ken Gooley and his wife Jemima, Kate Mead, James Gooley and his wife Linda and Daniel Gooley; loving grandfather of Iris Gooley. A native of Long Island, New York, Tom obtained a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from Towson University in Maryland and a Masters in Taxation from the University of Baltimore. Tom and his family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1990, where he worked as a treasurer for the Bata Shoe Company and US Lec. An avid outdoorsman, Tom enjoyed cycling and hiking with his family and beloved dog, Bernie, in the Carolina Blue Ridge and skiing in Colorado. Tom served for many years on the Executive Board and as Treasurer of the Matthews Playhouse in Matthews, North Carolina. He was a longtime fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Carolina Panthers.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace, 18310 Middletown Road, Parkton, MD 21120 on January 21, 2017, at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Matthews Playhouse, Matthews, NC. (www.matthewsplayhouse.com)

I have thought about Tom always and wondered how he was doing. I just searched his name and was saddened to read this obituary. So very sad. What a beautiful person Tom was. I enjoyed his knowledge about everything. I send my deepest condolences to Carolanne and the entire family. He is in a calmer and peaceful place. No more to hurt. I am so very sorry for the family because I know you will all miss him dearly. I am glad we was back home.
