My name is Janice Darche. I worked with Tom at Bay Elementary school for many years. I am a pediatric physical therapist with the California Children Services Program(retired) and I had the honor of working side by side with Tom and his classroom. We were located across the hall from Mr. Hallman´s room and we were able to interact regularly when working with the kids in his class. Tom was a wonderful teacher. He worked really hard to provide a supportive, positive and challenging classroom for his students. He was always interested in finding out the best ways to meet his diverse students´ needs and never backed away from a challenge. I am really lucky to have had the opportunity to get to know Tom and work with him up until his retirement. He was greatly missed when he left the school! I´m sorry to miss his Celebration of Life, but I´m really glad to have the opportunity to share my thoughts with his family and friends.

Tom was my neighbor across the street for many years in Castro Valley when I was growing up. His cousin Carleen and I are life-long friends. A great guy who made a difference. May he Rest In Peace.

Tom mentored me at Sunset Elementary. He was one of my first teacher friends. We shared a love for old cars and for working hands-on with our kids.
We worked together for 9 wonderful years, until they closed our school.
Tom could´ve been anything. We were blessed he wanted to be a teacher.
And what a fine, talented, dedicated teacher he was.
Truly one of the finest people I´ve known. We all loved him.

I was lucky to have shared breakfast with T-Bone on many Wednesday and Saturday mornings. He would often join our group at the Goodguys car shows, too. Always had kind words when greeting everyone he met.

I worked with Tom at Bay Elementary for about 20 years. He was a kind, caring, and loving teacher to his students. He was more of a family member to my family than he was a boss to me. I will miss him and his phone calls very much. God be with you Barbara.
