Thomas Keir Obituary

Thomas Kenneth Keir, 76, of Sayre, Pa., died on Thursday, July 2, 2009.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1932, in Ridley Park, Pa., a son of the late Kenneth Keir and Alice J. (Wright) Keir Mays.

Tom was a 1950 graduate of Rome High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was the loving husband of Mary Lou (Tienken) Keir and would have celebrated their 50th anniversary on Nov. 21 of this year.

He was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church and Rome Lodge No. 418 F&AM and a life member of the Greater Valley EMS.

Tom was the owner of Credit Control Investigations.

He is survived by his wife; children, Tammy and Gary Rogers of Rochester, N.Y., and LuAnn and Tim Young of Sayre; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Jim Carleton of Wellsboro, Pa.; his grandchildren, Matt Rogers and Katie Morrissey, Ben Rogers, Kristine and Matt Podolinski, Tyler Young and Kelsey Young; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Lois, Nancy, Barb, Brandon and Stacie Hutter and Sue, Chet, Kyle and Colleen Brown.

Tom was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Irene Tienken, and grandson, Kenny Young.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, at the Waverly United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Anne Bey Canfield and the Rev. James Donahoo officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Guthrie Hospice or to the Greater Valley Emergency Medical Services.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Carleton Funeral Home, Wellsboro, Pa.
