SOUTH BEND - Thomas J. Lambing, 83, died peacefully May 17, 2018 at the Center for Hospice Care, South Bend.

Tom was born January 9, 1935 in Apollo, PA to the late John and Myrtle (Moonley) Lambing. He was also preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lambing, Jr.; one brother, Edward Lambing; and sister, Ruth Davison. He has one surviving sister, Jane Doland of Apollo, PA.

He graduated from Elders Ridge High School and studied at Indiana University.

On February 23, 1979, Tom married the love of his life, Gayle Miller, who survives him. She was his caretaker and best friend to the very end. Tom retired as the General Superintendent of Western Cold Drawn Steel in Gary, IN. After retirement, he obtained his Realtor's license to be able to work alongside his wife. He was a lifelong 32 degree mason with the Elks Lodge, and attended the First Baptist Church of Miller. He was respected and loved by all who knew him. He was passionate, resilient, hardworking, and never complained. He is out of pain from his earthly body, and is now at peace. He will be dearly missed.
