Thomas Lane Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 8 to Jan. 9, 2023.
On Friday January 6, 2023, Thomas M. Lane, beloved husband, dedicated father, loving grandfather, and friend to all passed away after battling a recent illness. He was 76 years old. After graduating high school in Framingham, MA, Thomas spent 10 years in the Navy, serving 2 tours in the Vietnam War.

Thomas was a dedicated family man, he is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Joan M. Lane (Greenwood) of Bellingham, MA, his children Diana Lane DeLeon and her husband Lin W. DeLeon of Bellingham, MA, Christina M. Qualey of Grafton, MA, and Thomas M. Lane Jr. of Berlin, MA. Thomas is also survived by the true lights that kept him going, his grandchildren, Aiden Lane, Katarhina DeLeon, Conley DeLeon, Justin Lane Qualey, and Kiera Qualey. Thomas is also survived by his brother Edward Lane and wife Nancy of Marlborough, MA, his sisters Nancy Wood, of Murells Inlet, SC, and Maureen Lane of Medfield, MA as well as many nieces and nephews all of whom loved him immensely. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Catherine Lane of Sherborn, MA, as well as his sisters Kathleen McLaughlin of Bellingham, Mary Karcher of Bellingham, MA, and his brother Kenneth Lane of Bellingham, MA..

Thomas retired from Ken's Foods in Marlborough, MA after 20 years in 2005 only to pursue his love of innovation. Over the last 17 years the imaginative mind of this brilliant man has built custom golf clubs, created an amazing throttle lock for motorcycles, created custom rings that can only be described as one of a kind and so meaningful to the people they were designed for and top of the line knives, these are just a handful of the items he did, his mind was so full of ideas it is a wonder he was ever able to sleep.

Over the last 3 years Thomas found a new passion in reviving the Bellingham VFW, working with the Veterans and their families was something he was so proud of, from starting a Cruise-night, to adding yoga, he loved the time he spent there. He was introduced to so many new friends and people he became to know as family.

Thomas will be so deeply missed, he has left a large gap in the lives of all that knew him.

His family would like to invite everyone to his Celebration of Life on January 21, 2023 at the only place we could see fit, the Bellingham VFW. Please join us starting at 3:00PM as we celebrate the much too short life of this amazing man.

Sending Condolences to Joan, Diana and the rest of the family. Tom was one of my closest friends and confidants for well over 25 years. Tom went above and beyond the call of duty and if I ever needed anything he was always there. He will be missed tremendously. Rest in peace my friend.

Tom was an absolutely amazing man. He was one of the very first people to welcome me to the VFW and became a fast friend. My heart is broken thinking I will never be able to sit and chat with him again. Sending much love to Joan and the family. You are all in my thought
