Thomas McFarland Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 2, 2025.
Thomas Francis McFarland, of New Rochelle, NY, passed away on April 29, 2025, at the age of 65 after a courageous and fierce ten month battle with gastric cancer. He was the beloved husband of Jennie for 22 years. Together, they raised five children: Thomas Jr. (21), Peter (20), George (18), Elizabeth "Libby" (17), and Robert (14), who were the pride and joy of his life. Tom considered his children his greatest accomplishment. He loved them deeply and drew strength and purpose from being their father.

Tom is also survived by his cherished siblings: James (Virginia), Mary (Kerry), Brian (Tracey), Matthew, and Daniel (Erin), as well as many adoring nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Margaret McFarland, and his brother John McFarland (Jo Ann). Tom was born on November 6, 1959, in Queens, New York and grew up on Long Island. He graduated from Chaminade High School, St. John's University and earned an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Tom had a successful career in finance in New York City, beginning at Salomon Brothers and First Albany, before playing a key role in building MKP Capital into a successful hedge fund. He later served as Chief Operating Officer of the Hinduja Group (HBI) family office. In the final chapter of his professional life, Tom embraced entrepreneurship, founding and running his own business, TeamLogic IT, in Harrison, NY. He poured his heart and soul into the venture, demonstrating courage and passion as he navigated the challenges of business ownership.

Tom dedicated 26 distinguished years to the United States Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Colonel. He served in various roles, primarily in logistics, and completed multiple active-duty deployments. His leadership, integrity, and commitment to service earned him numerous commendations and awards. Despite the recognition, Tom remained deeply humble. When thanked for his service, he would simply say that no thanks were necessary and that it had been his honor to serve.

A lifelong Catholic, Tom's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his faith, and his country. Tom's legacy will live on through his loved ones and the many lives he touched throughout his remarkable life.
