Thomas McQueen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 2, 2015.
Tom went to be with the Lord on December 28th at home, surrounded by his family. He was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA, the youngest child of Gene and Pauline McQueen. He graduated from South High and earned his AA at Bakersfield College. Tom worked for 34 years as a Sears delivery driver and service technician. He proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, where he valiantly completed one tour in Vietnam, earning many medals including a Purple Heart. Tom married the love of his life, Bonnie, and for 45 years they enjoyed doing many things including, being 4-H leaders, hunting, camping, fishing, and rock collecting, all with their family and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Mother-In-Law Ardys and Sister-In-Law Bev. Tom is survived by his wife Bonnie, their 4 children, and 9 grandchildren, Mishell and Heath Sanders (Austin and Emily), Christine and Todd Fleagle (Michael and Molly), Thomas and Effie McQueen (Liane, Mitchell, and Grant), Jennifer and Mark Pavletich (Samantha and Maverick). His sisters Pat Anguish, Nancy Shroyer, the entire Brown family, who he considered his brothers and sisters, and his best friend Alex Alvarado.
Tom was a man of many gifts, but none more important than the constant love and support that he gave to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Funeral services will be held on January 5, 2015, at Sacred Heart Church at 10:30am. Interment will follow at the Bakersfield National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital. P.O. Box 50 Memphis, TN. 38101-9929 or at stjude.org.
