Thomas Robert Moritz
Date of Birth ~ January 28, 1947
Date of Death ~ July 29, 2022
Age ~ 75
On July 29, 2022, Thomas Robert Moritz, loving husband, father, and friend, passed away at the age of 75. Tom was born in Rhinelander on January 28, 1947, to parents Fran and Bob Moritz. He attended Rhinelander schools and graduated from RHS in 1965. Tom continued his education at UW-Superior where he also played football until graduating with a degree in Biology in 1969. On May 15, 1971, Tom married Nan, his beloved wife of 51 years. Together they raised two daughters, Wendy, and Heidi. Tom worked alongside his father at Moritz Tire and eventually purchased and ran the business until his retirement in December 2017.
Tom’s compassion, integrity, strong work ethic, generosity, and dedication to serving others were important values he carried through in running his business. Tom liked to stay active and enjoyed biking, taking classes at the YMCA, coaching gymnastics, fishing, and vacationing in Florida with his wife. Tom’s hobbies, especially biking, introduced him to some very special lifelong friends whose company brought him much joy. Above all, Tom loved and cared for his family very deeply. He was a selfless man who put others before himself. Time spent with his family was what Tom cherished the most.
Tom is survived by his wife Nan, daughter Heidi, son-in-law Jason, granddaughter Annabelle “Rosebud” Skurkay, grandson Tommy Fredericks and fiancé Juliana Spry, son-in-law Rob Fredericks, sister-in-law Vicki Brown and husband Don, the Fischer family, and the Moritz family.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Fran and his daughter, Wendy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Szmanda and Dr. Danny Lundberg for their exceptional care. We were blessed to have each of them. They cared for him with kindness and compassion which meant so much to our family.
The family will honor Tom in a ceremony, and would like to invite all those who knew and loved him to a Celebration of Life on Saturday August 13th from 5 to 8 pm at Pine Harbor Resort 3999 Trails End Road in Rhinelander.

So many wonderful memories of Tom. Always a smile and eager to help. I'll be making a donation to Little Bellas on Tom's behalf. Think he would have liked that. Ride on Tom.

Nan and family: I'm so deeply sorry for your "our" loss. Tom was a very special guy to everyone that knew him. I will miss his positive outlook, willingness to always be there and lend a hand, and his infectious smile. He was a special buddy to us all. Everytime I see a fallen pine cone on the driveway, I will always think of him picking them up and firing them into the woods. I see the "Dancing King" singing and shredding up heaven's carpet.

Nan, Heidi and family - So sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I have many fond memories of Fran, Bob, Tom and the Fischer family from the days at the cottage on Horsehead Lake where we would have a great meal and then a bonfire for all of us as young kids. Those were wonderful days. My deepest condolences.

Nan and Heidi, I am very sorry to hear of Tom's passing and for your loss.
He showed me a kindness very rare for this day and age.
I can especially relate to you Heidi, as my dad passed in Oct 2020. I only wish I could offer you some comfort, but I know you both will always miss your husband and father. I wish you both health and future happiness.
Your friend,
Brian Hinkens

My deepest sympathy goes out to Nan and her entire family. I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to get to know Tom over the past year. His humor and his willingness to share his joy in life was heartfelt considering the challenges he faced.
Nan was his hero in assisting him no matter what the task and I am grateful to have been a part of his life in assisting her.
God speed Tom as you dance, sing, bicycle and fish in heaven.
