Thomas Reed Potter, age 65 of Mechanicsburg, passed away on March 27, 2024 after a year-long decline in health, including symptoms of dementia. Born in Harrisburg on February 20, 1959 to parents Patricia and Kenneth, Tom graduated from East Pennsboro High School in 1977 before moving to Spokane, WA where he earned his Bachelor's Degree from Whitworth College in 1983. He earned his Teaching Certificate in Social Studies from Shippensburg University in 1986 followed by his Master's Degree from Penn State University in 1998. Tom taught history and psychology in the Central Dauphin School District for 20 years before retiring.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hobbies such as hunting, classic cars, collecting sports memorabilia and jerseys, woodworking, gardening, and watching Seinfeld. He led a chronic pain support group for many years and volunteered for the Harrisburg Boys and Girls Club.

Tom is predeceased by his mother, father, and brothers Donald and Kenneth. He is survived by his children Tricia and Teddy; his brother Scott; and his nieces and nephews Kenny, Patrick, Kristin, Matthew, and Amy. A casual gathering of family and friends will be held at The Event Cafe in New Cumberland on March 30th from 12-2pm.

I meet Tom through my wife Joanne. He was with me during my bachelor party and kept me company. What I remember about Tom is he was such a great guy. Wish I knew him longer. The best go too early.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all, Tom was a good soul with a heart of gold , he was one of a kind, a friend to all, and my best friend all through high school, he always gave great advice, so sorry for your loss and know he touched our hearts with his friendship. Sending prayers and love to you all.
