Thomas SCOTT Obituary
November 20, 1931 – Winnipeg, Manitoba
September 9, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta
It is with heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Thomas Henry Scott after a hard fought battle with Melanoma with loving wife, Marie and family by his side. Tom was a special man and touched the hearts of many who knew him. Always kind, calm and ready to "make it work" or "make it all better", ever the Gentle Giant one could count on. Tom graduated from Law at the University of Manitoba in 1954. He enjoyed all sports and played basketball with the University of Manitoba, he even played against Harlem Globetrotters. He loved curling and played in the Manitoba Briar and he always enjoyed golfing. He came to Calgary in 1959 as Solicitor for Bramar Homes. He was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1962 and formed the partnership of Scott & Strilchuk; then Scott & Thomas, consisting of five lawyers. He was then on his own for a short time, reaching his 50 year milestone in 2012 receiving his Certificate of Recognition from the Law Society of Alberta; retiring in 2014. He was a proud member of the Robbie Burn's Society. He will be missed terribly as the beloved husband of Marie for 42 plus years, and as a loving father to Daniel Maylan, Tracey (Rick) Scott-Lafette, Geoff Scott, TJ Maylan, Robert Maylan (Vancouver), Jordan Scott; grandfather to Ashley, Justin and Travis. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with reception to follow at the Funeral Home. Graveside service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Special thanks to those in Oncology at The Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Foothills. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200 – 325 Manning Rd. Tom was my real estate lawyer and I was deeply saddened to find out of his passing. He helped me above and beyond on several of my house sales and one in particular which was critical in my life. I am sorry for your loss.

Our family is deeply saddened. It was so very good to see you Marie and the amazing kids from both sides of the family. You mean the world to us. Tom taught me so much. Now that my son is articling for me I hope I can instill in him one tenth the wisdom Tom imparted to me when I began working for him so many years ago. All our love,
