Timothy Low Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 9, 2025.
Timothy "Tim" Raymond Low, born March 12, 1942, in Wethersfield, passed away peacefully Monday, January 27, 2025, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, at the age of 82. He was the cherished son of Virginia and M. Nelson "Hokie" Low. Tim spent his early years on the family farm on Griswold Road in Wethersfield.

A proud alumnus of Wethersfield High School, Class of 1960, Tim married his high school sweetheart, Lynn B. duFour, in 1964. He served with distinction in the Army National Guard for six years and dedicated much of his life to public service. Joining the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department in 1963, he advanced through the ranks, becoming Captain of Company 2 in 1978 and later serving as Deputy Chief from 1979 to 1985. His exemplary service was honored when he was named Firefighter of the Year. A trailblazer in emergency response training, Tim pioneered Wethersfield's first joint firefighter and police Emergency Medical Training course along with being a certified EMT instructor with LifeStar.

Tim's professional career with CIGNA, spanned over three decades, where he retired as Vice President of Systems Security. After relocating to Glastonbury, he continued his commitment to public safety, serving as one of the five Commissioners of the Glastonbury Fire Department. In his retirement, Tim moved to the Florida Keys and fulfilled a lifelong dream by establishing his own limousine business, which he operated until 2020.

Tim is survived by his son, David (Sandy) Low of League City, TX; his daughter, Catherine (Robert) O'Connor of Tolland; and his beloved grandchildren Kevin, Caroline, Stephanie, Eric, and Alex. He is also survived by his brother, Peter Low; his sisters, Barbara (Nancy Eaton) and Susan (Ken) Harkins.

Tim was known for his deep love of music and dancing, and he found great joy in connecting with others. His happiest moments were spent in service to his community, where he endeared himself to all by making everyone feel like a friend. May his memory offer solace to those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, February 22, at 11:30am directly in the Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect St, Wethersfield. There is no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wethersfield Fire Department, 505 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield, CT 06109 or your local animal shelter.

Tim was a wonderful person! He did so much for the Wethersfield Fire Department - and was fun on top of it!

Frank and I are so sorry to hear of Tim´s passing. We were very close friends of Tim and Lynn, and shared many memorable "dates" with them.; Those are happy memories ; he was a gentleman always, and funny with his tall and gangling physique. It´s sad to know he no longer lives among us. Susan and Frank Falvo
