TIMOTHY MENEES Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 22 to Jan. 23, 2015.
MENEES
TIMOTHY MARION
Of Bethel Park, age 40, passed away of natural causes on Monday, January 19, 2015. Tim (Timmy to his family, TM to many of his friends) was born in Seattle, WA, on February 3, 1974. He moved to Pittsburgh with his parents in 1976. He graduated from Bethel Park High School and attended Edinboro University and Point Park University. Among his passions were sports, music and writing, and after college he landed a job writing for the Pirates Report, the team's semi-official newspaper. This would be a dream job for most young men, and it was for Tim. He got to know the ballplayers, went to spring training four times and to three All-Star games. During one spring training Pirates pitcher Mark Wilkins asked if he wanted to play catch. Tim had no baseball glove with him, so the pitcher tossed Tim one of his own and said, "Every guy should have his own glove." As part of the Pirates Report, he did radio stints on ESPN Radio 1250 AM and Fox Sports Radio Station 970 AM. He later worked at Delta Financial Corporation in Green Tree, and EDMC/South University in Pittsburgh. He was working at Donor Services in Mt. Lebanon, where he helped raise money for the likes of the Sierra Club and Doctors Without Borders. He had recently been promoted to manager. He was the beloved son of Tim and Kay Menees; cherished brother of Becky and her husband, Steve Ciccio; loving uncle of Hudson and Ella Ciccio; loving grandson of Marjorie Menees and the late Gerald E. Menees, Alphonsus and Bernadette Determan; loving partner of Kathryn Gadd; also survived by many uncles, aunts and cousins. Family and friends will be received Friday, January 23, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at PAUL L. HENNEY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 5570 Library Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15102. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 10 a.m. in St. Valentine Church (Everyone please meet at church). In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to ASPCA, www.aspca.org or Community Food Bank of Pittsburgh, 1 N. Linden St., Duquesne, PA 15110.

Dear Mrs. Menees & Family -
No bond is as great as that between a parent and child. Your son touched the lives of countless people and his beautiful soul and legacy will live on forever. May the love of family and friends carry you through your grief.

Many prayers and thoughts to the entire Menees family and all of his many friends. I knew Tim years ago, but he had the most amazing personality with a passion for music and life that kept him in my thoughts often. Thinking of all of you in this very difficult time.

January 23, 2015

I only met Tim this past Christmas. I had heard so many great things about him and his family. I also knew how happy he made my cousin Kathy When I finally had a chance to meet Tim ,my husband Pat and I knew we had not only met a new member of the family but we had just met a new friend. I am so saddened that we won't meet again but so thankful that we did get to spend a short time with him. He made such an impression in a short time. I am so sorry for the true love my cousin lost. My deepest sympathy to his family to the son and brother that they lost.

Today's web shows longtime Homestead, PA Mayor Betty Esper at a fire in her town; it would be hard to imagine Homestead without Betty as it's a bit much thinking of how much we miss the one & only Timmenees, another Pgh. institution. God bless his family & friends. Take care.

Tim and I went to EUP together and we both lived in Mount Washington. He had a good heart and always was ready with a kind word or laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Peace to your hearts.

January 23, 2015

Tim, I can't believe your not with us anymore. You were my best friend. We had so many great times, too many to count. We were always there for each other. I could tell you anything and you wouldn't judge me or say a word to anyone, it would stay in your vault as you would say. I haven't stopped thinking of you or looking at all your pictures. I am truly devastated and can't imagine not seeing you or hearing your voice again or the name you always called me. I am gonna miss you so much bro! We had a special bond that no one can replace. My prayers are with your mom, dad and family. I know your in heaven smiling down and I will miss you and love you forever.

January 22, 2015

We were so sorry to hear this news. Tim brought so much happiness to my sister's life and to all of our lives as well, and we will all miss him terribly. Tim was a wonderfully charming, engaging, and intelligent man, and we are grateful for the memories we have of him. When we came to Pittsburgh to visit for Christmas 2014, Tim took us to his favorite spot in his neighborhood, and he loved this picture from that night. Deepest condolences to Tim's family and to all who loved him.

I remember Timmy as the bright, older neighbor boy from down the street. From early on, I still can recall his gentle manner, sense of humor, and easy going attitude. However, what sticks out in my mind is his ability as a writer. Not only was he voracious with a pen and paper, but accepted any assignment that came his way. Whenever I read a piece that Timmy wrote, it was always as if he was right there telling me the story himself.

I have known the Menees family my entire life. Timmy's parents, Kay and Tim, were always quite supportive of me in my journey as a writer. Their daughter Becky babysat us as children, and my sister and I cheered with her on Big Sister's night. Timmy's passing is not only hard for myself, but for my entire family as well.

Prayers and thoughtful intentions from New York-April Brucker
