January 8, 1957 - August 19, 2022
Modesto, California - On Friday, August 19th, 2022 "The Momma" peacefully passed away after a brief battle with a rare illness, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). Born in Castro Valley CA to Ken and Laura Furtado; Tina grew up in Newark with her older brother Ken and younger sister Renee. She graduated from Newark High in 1975 where she created cherished memories playing the trumpet in the marching band.
She spent her adult life being the best daughter, sister, wife, mother, mémere and friend she could possibly be. Her work life was occupied by the daily hustle and bustle of being an office manager/bookkeeper. She ran a tight ship with an office and shop full of men! Nothing made "The Momma" happier than the lives of her children and granddaughter. She spent every waking moment wondering and worrying about their needs and happiness. She so LOVED finding great bargains at her favorite stores and tending to her garden and watering her many plants!
Tina was preceded in death by her parents Ken and Laura Furtado and husband Butch. She is survived by her longtime partner Dennis Heiny; daughter Nicole (Mike) Lunn, son Nick (Stephanie) Poulos; Granddaughter Makayla; Step-grandchildren Jeremy (Sadie) Lunn; Zach (Michael) and Jude Killian; Brother Ken Furtado (Roger Shanks); Sister Renee Furtado (Evelyn Gonzales); God daughters Adrienne and Connie, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
