In Loving Memory o f TOM RICHMOND May 26, 1918 - August 2, 2003 Dear Dad (Pop) It's been ten long years without you - No farmer at the lake - Ten years of holding memories To try and ease the ache. From Great Central to Strathcona, And, oh yes, Wilson Road, You made one and all feel welcome, Wherever your abode. From deck to beach to living room, From rain to wind to shine, From drinks that really hit the spot To (yuck) that homemade wine. From gumboots worn with coveralls To teeth that you'd pop out. From salmon, smoked and otherwise, To lots of rainbow trout. From knees that needed fixing To ears swelled up with gout To a thumb so clearly evergreen That all it touched would sprout. From cobs of corn and pods of peas To rhodos with their flair, From the tasty to the beautiful, All grown with equal care. From building up the rockery And tilling all the land To tinkering with tractors And tuning up the van. From dogs you cherished deeply To a pox on every cat, From horses in the yard and field To squirrels upon your hat. From bringing home the bacon To bringing home the grouse To bringing so much wit and charm To bringing down the house. From your antics in Nanaimo To Ken's car up on the lawn, You made history hilarious, Our past was never gone. We'll always guard these memories, We'll guard them like they're gold, We'll guard the days we spent with you And days of which you told. We'll tell and we'll remember, Recapturing the fun.
